TYPES OF MODELLING WE CATER FOR
We cater for a whole host of modelling assignments which are as follows:
FASHION MODELLING
To be considered for this type of modelling which is essentially high fashion, you would ideally need to possess strong and distinctive features. Also, having extremely striking, exotic looks help as they are in vogue at the moment. Minimum height of 5ft 8” for girls and 6ft 1” for boys.
Runway
A model has to bring the designs of a designer to life, and exhibit them to their best advantage. The requirements for this type of modelling are the most rigorous in that to do this type of modeling for our clients, you would need to be very tall and slim, and be capable of moving well in clothes. This is highly-paid work, and one of the most effective ways to gain exposure.
Catalogue
By and large, when we pick catalogue models for a project, it is because we feel they represent the ideal of the market segment for which that particular catalogue client is targeted. Frequently, such a model would (in our view represent) the classic beauty - tall, slender, healthy, and beautiful. However, requirements can be fairly flexible.
Fashion Print
This represents fashion and beauty for print advertising. Here, it can be display ads or collateral print materials. Please also bear in mind that this can be the most demanding work to get but in terms of pay, it is usually the best due to usage and exclusives. Indeed, these are usually the ads that can make or break the reputation and name of a designer. Thus, with these types of ads, it is very important that the concept, photo, and model work seamlessly to express the image that is required.
EDITORIAL
Under this type of modelling, as one of our models, you would work for a particular publication with the goal of producing photographs to illustrate articles and editorials. Here, the physical requirements are often less stringent than those for High Fashion modelling but the good thing about this type of (editorial) modelling experience is that it opens doors. This work is also highly popular in that it is generally very eagerly sought after by many of our fashion models given the exposure it offers them. For this reason the pay rates can be quite low, but the payoff for this type of work is that it furnishes you with what is known as tear sheets for your portfolio that will assist you in getting further work.
Fashion Editorial
This takes in our client magazines from Vogue and Elle to Bliss and Sugar. Requirements tend to vary in accordance with the style and target audience of the magazine. For a glossy, high fashion publication such as Vogue for instance, physical requirements will be quite stringent, along the lines of catwalk work, while for a teen magazine like Bliss they will by and large be more accommodating.
Lad Mag Editorial
This type of editorial work could be compared to glamour modelling, given that it frequently includes a sexual theme and restricted clothing so please bear this in mind. With regards to height requirements, this is in the main unimportant. However, a slender, toned physique and curves wont do you any harm.
General Interest Editorial
This includes magazines on computing, health, collectibles, and hobbies. Height and build requirements are often quite relaxed in comparison to high fashion modelling.
GLAMOUR MODELLING
Glamour modelling is modelling for photos but with a sexual undertone. Contrary to popular belief, it does not automatically refer to top-shelf publications. What it does include however is club wear, swimwear and lingerie as well as nudity - implied or actual, top or full. Due to the broad scope included in the term Glamour Modelling, when assigning our models to this type of work (assuming of course youve opted for it in your initial application and thus have it on your portfolio) we also make sure we explicitly clarify beforehand with you what you are and are not prepared to do before putting you forward for a glamour shoot. A curvy figure and good looks tend to be assets in this type of modelling. Moreover, rates of pay can be quite good for glamour modelling.
Commercial Modelling
Product The function of the photo is to advertise a product, and thus, as the model, you will be used to demonstrate how the product is used. Also, as a model under this category, you may be used to convey an image about a product. The physical requirements and look for commercial product modelling can vary a great deal so we will let you know as and when. However, it all depends on the image or story the client wants to convey to the products audience. This is where character models are used.
Lifestyle
Here, and based on our client needs, we use our models in photos showing a period of life or doing something in life to advertise a company or idea rather than a physical product. The models are employed so as to act out some concept or idea of life. The physical requirements, age, size, etc. can vary greatly, but it tends to be the beautiful people that are more often than not employed here. An aspect of commercial lifestyle modelling is commercial corporate modelling, whereby the photo has a business theme.
Product Demo & Trade Show
The idea that lies behind this is that stores or trade show exhibitors require someone attractive that will act as a crowd-puller. Also, when you are starting out in modeling, this tends to pay better then any regular job and it can really build your confidence around people.
